Celestial Conquest Devlog Week 5

Last week my goal was to make some progress on new active systems (or abilities). I made some good progress with AOE effects and abilities, and got around to making a good gif of one of the AOE active systems in action:

Here you can see the new AOE effect in action. It has a short cast time, then disables the shields of all enemy ships in a 2Km radius. There’s some cool lightning vfx visible there as well that I’m planning on incorporating in the project in other ways. I did some more work on setting up chained ability effects, or ability effects that spawn other ability effects. These will form the basis for all targeted effects, which will spawn an effect in the world that will then spawn other effects which apply to ships or pilots. Basically, I’m adding more tools to my ability creation and design toolbox.

In the coming week, I’m going to be working on some implementation of new active systems, such as the healing drone ability for Karn Shiel, and working on putting together an entirely new loadout of active abilities for a totally new pilot. If I finish all that up, there are several more passive systems I’d like to implement as well. See you next week!
